13th Floor Elevators’s debut, ‘Psychedelic Sounds Of The 13th Floor Elevators’, does not fit easily into one genre. It has been fourteen years 13th Floor Elevators’ last studio CD, “Psychedelic Sounds Of The 13th Floor Elevators” which won Array Academy Awards and was nominated for album of the year. Nowhere is this more so than on their re-working of 13th Floor Elevators on ‘You’re Gonna Miss Me’. Psychedelic Sounds Of The 13th Floor Elevators is not something you should pass up.
I now have Roller Coaster as one of my personal favorites. It is succeeded by an outstanding track, however: Splash 1, which shows, blatantly, how much 13th Floor Elevators has evolved as a singer. This track is clearly meant to showcase 13th Floor Elevators’s vocal abilities. Don’t Fall Down gets you up and jumping. This track is a fabulous selection of easy listening, suitable for any age, taste or occasion. Thru the Rhythm is one of these floating songs. This track is nearly perfect if not perfect. It took me a little time but I ended up loving Kingdom of Heaven. A great put together song. I have all of 13th Floor Elevators’s tracks and Tried to Hide is probably the most his introspective effort.
