This disc has all of the essential Alton Ellis and The Heptones classics. After seeing Humble Will Stumble, I had to have a good Alton Ellis and The Heptones cd. This ten-song debut EP shows the promise that Alton Ellis and The Heptones has. Mr. Ska Bean’a touched my soul like nothing else.
Hard To Be A Lover - Alton Ellis and The Heptones first major hit. Pure Sorrow is one of the best records ever. A fantastic track full of wonder. Alton Ellis and The Heptones allows each song to breathe and flourish. Mr Ska Bean’a is the song that really did it for me. Bless You is pretty funky and mellow. Children Are Crying is another favourite of mine. This song is like perfectly aged vintage bordeaux wine not a tequila shot.
