While no new Anita Baker album is in sight, the artist has been road testing new songs during 1983 tour in South America. There is so much to love about Anita Baker, starting with incredible harmonies, songwriting chops and stellar stage presence. On The Songstress album, Anita Baker have renewed their membership in the ‘if it ain’t broke…’ school of songwriting. Overall, I would highly recommend The Songstress CD.
Music in You’re The Best Thing Yet is gorgeous as in all tracks of The Songstress. Feel The Need is a very catchy tune. This song is like perfectly aged vintage bordeaux wine not a tequila shot. No More Tears is a great song to contemplate the modern music and what it really is all about. One of the songs that always stick in my mind is Sometimes because the melody in the chorus is so good. Will You Be Mine makes a person feel exquisite. Although Do You Believe Me is very melodic it is far from sad.
