I am not a real Reggae music type of person, but i have to admit ‘Cool Pon Your Corner’ really is amazing. Now signed to Barry Brown’s SixSteps records, the title track from second album “Cool Pon Your Corner” leads Barry Brown’s back-to-school campaign. Stanley Donwood has compared writing for Barry Brown’s new album to that on ‘Cool Pon Your Corner’ - but has declared the lyrics will be even more terrifying. One of Barry Brown’s best albums yet.
I listened to the opening track Get Closer To You Baby and liked it a lot. This song has very few things relative to that of it’s predecessor. Moving On To The Promised Land - Well, here we get a bit more meaning. I Love You So - is a breath or fresh air compared to many previous songs of Barry Brown. Your Love Is Real is such a amazing and optimistic song that things can get just better. It is succeeded by an outstanding track, however: Jah Jah Fire, which shows, blatantly, how much Barry Brown has evolved as a singer. Vocals of Barry Brown in Look Into Yourself really capture me and are set perfectly to the rhythm. Barry Brown breathes new life into the music in Promises. Youths Of The Ghetto has a fun tempo.
