This compilation contains all of the biggest hits by Barry Brown. Far East isn’t so much a record, as a great effort at dragging you into another world. This disc has all of the essential Barry Brown classics. Barry Brown is one of my favourite bands of all time.
Trod On is a astounding, simple song by Barry Brown at the top of his game. This track makes my mind whirl and vibrate with flowing energy. Stand Firm is a medium tempo tune. Far East is a romantic if not formulaic ditty. Be Careful is a song to enjoy for years to come. Forward On is the song that really did it for me. Nice and different song. So Jah Jah Say is the more seemingly obscure song on Far East that bear up best to repeated listening. In Problem the light shines equally on lyrics, vocals and instrumentation. My Woman is one of the coolest songs Barry Brown has ever recorded. One of the songs that always stick in my mind is Sensemilla because the melody in the chorus is so good. I think Come We Dub Tonight is the best song Barry Brown has ever done.
