The First Four Years carries a very emotional theme throughout the album. The First Four Years isn’t so much a record, as a great effort at dragging you into another world. eight years ago, Black Flag briefly lived up to their terrific name, with an insanely addictive hit single called “White Minority”. The First Four Years constantly brilliant.
White Minority very upbeat. Revenge is a song that will not reduce you to tears but leave you thinking long after The First Four Years have ended. Voice of Black Flag in Jealous Again is honest and guitar work is subtle and poignant. Wasted is one of the coolest songs Black Flag has ever recorded. You can find feelings on this piece of art. Fix Me is probably the highlight of the album. Nervous Breakdown is a fine track on any terms. This track is just fantastic from start to finish. No Black Flag song has come close to capturing my attention as Six Pack did. I’ve Heard It Before which is my favorite is a truly Black Flag sounding song. One of the more genuine-sounding songs is You Bet We’ve Got Something Personal Against You!. It is succeeded by an outstanding track, however: Machine, which shows, blatantly, how much Black Flag has evolved as a singer. When listening to American Waste, it gives me such an energy rush it’s unbelievable. Music of Damaged I is gentle, never overbearing. Louie Louie is a very catchy tune.
