After debuting at No. 1 last week, Blondie’s album Plastic Letters falls to No. 2 with 144,000, a sales slide of 81%. This is the first studio album from Blondie since bad diagnosis in 1977. This sixteen-song debut EP shows the promise that Blondie has. IT makes me wanna dance!
Denis as well as many of songs is a short story in miniature. In Bermuda Triangle Blues full palet of sound is used by Blondie to accentuate the presentation. Vocals of Blondie in Youth Nabbed As Sniper really capture me and are set perfectly to the rhythm. A unique and uplifting song. I have all of Blondie’s tracks and [I’m Always Touched By Your] P is probably the most his introspective effort. I’m On E - arguably the best track on Plastic Letters album. I Didn’t Have The Nerve To Say is possibly the best song Blondie has come up. Love At The Pier is a romantic if not formulaic ditty. No Imagination one is one of the better boring ones. Blondie allows each song to breathe and flourish. This track is possibly the biggest guilty pleasure on Plastic Letters. Cautious Lip rocked my world when I popped it into my car stereo. Poets Problem is a very catchy tune. Denis [Alternative Version] is the album’s biggest hit, I think.
