When you buy a Blonker album, you know exactly what you’re getting! This is the first studio album from Blonker since bad diagnosis in 1980. Since Blonker last CD (Fantasia) on Virgin Records back in 1980, I have felt a massive void in my life. I wish that “Fantasia” album was instrumental.
Sidewalk Cafe presents the gorgeous mix of instruments on Fantasia. After you’ve listened to Pavane, most everything else can’t hold up and is second rate. This song stands out greatly from the others. I listened to the opening track Emily and liked it a lot. One of the more genuine-sounding songs is Indigo. Tender Steel is possibly the most mysterious and inexplicable track Blonker ever produced. The Rose is the albums lead single as well as biggest hit. Fantasia is maybe the best thing the group’s ever done. Let It Be Me gives good insight into the truths.
