Blues - Various Artists’s debut, ‘Sonny Boy Williamson - Chess Blues (1954-1960) - CD3′, does not fit easily into one genre. While no new Blues - Various Artists album is in sight, the artist has been road testing new songs during 1954 tour in Asia. On the Luxembourg charts, superstar Blues - Various Artists’s career stalled before it left the starting gate. Another great offering from Blues - Various Artists.
Come on Home (Eddie Boyd) is one of those songs that will put you in a good mood. Please Don’t Go (Floyd Dixon) is a song that will not reduce you to tears but leave you thinking long after Sonny Boy Williamson - Chess Blues (1954-1960) - CD3 have ended. Break of Day (Howlin’ Wolf) is filled with very deep emotions that will truly touch your heart. Sitting on Top of the World (Howlin’ Wolf) - A catchy, upbeat tune. What sets Smokestack Lightnin’ (Howlin’ Wolf) apart is Blues - Various Artists’s innovative and organic way of creating atmospheres. She Don’t Know (J. B. Lenoir) is probably the most interesting track on Sonny Boy Williamson - Chess Blues (1954-1960) - CD3. The opening track Walking By Myself (Jimmy Rogers) is very much like you would expect from other albums. If you are a Blues - Various Artists fan, you will love Ain’t Nobody’s Business (Jimmy Witherspoon). Slow Leake (Lafayette Leake) - Okay, I just talked about depth. Key to the Highway (Little Walter) sets the tone for the entire album. Mellow Down Easy (Little Walter) has a beautifully haunting disco flavor. My Babe (Little Walter) is possibly the most mysterious and inexplicable track Blues - Various Artists ever produced. Double Trouble (alternate; Muddy Waters) - I just love it. From the sound of it, I believe the song can be a big radio hit. My Eyes (Keep Me in Trouble; Muddy Waters) is perhaps one of the best tracks of the past decade. So Many Roads, So Many Trains (Otis Rush) is a very catchy tune. It’s such an underrated song. Right to Love You (Paul Gayten and Myrtle Jones) is a great song to contemplate the modern music and what it really is all about. You can find feelings on this piece of art. Fattening Frogs for Snakes (alternate; Sonny Boy Williamson) is nothing but pure genius. In Keep It to Yourself (Sonny Boy Williamson) the music gets its power. Music of The Goat (band track; Sonny Boy Williamson) is gentle, never overbearing. Your Funeral and My Trial (Sonny Boy Williamson) gets you up and jumping. Walking the Blues (Willie DIxon) one is one of the better boring ones. It’s also one of those rare songs that touchingly comfort the listener.
