It’s a brave and brilliant refocusing of Bob Dylan energies, virtually a rebirth. This disc has all of the essential Bob Dylan classics. Mila Sparrow has compared writing for Bob Dylan’s new album to that on ‘Blood On The Tracks’ - but has declared the lyrics will be even more terrifying. Blood On The Tracks constantly brilliant.
The first time I listened to Idiot Wind I was struck by its astounding sound. This is one of those tracks that should not be judged after the first hearing. Blood On The Tracks couldn’t start better than with the up up-beat title track Lily, Rosemary and The Jack Of. Vocal harmonies in this track are great and song structure is just right. I like Shelter From The Storm because it’s extremely catchy and has awesome drumming. Simple Twist Of Fate to me is the best you can get from Bob Dylan. After you’ve listened to Tangled Up In Blue, most everything else can’t hold up and is second rate. You’re A Big Girl Now - Well, here we get a bit more meaning. Bob Dylan sings You’re Gonna Make Me Lonesome in such a comforting, confident voice that you can’t help but be moved.
