Lead single “The Whiffenpoof Song” and “Soul Bird (Tin Tin Deo)” start with near-whispers before kicking into giddily catchy, fuzz box-driven hollered hooks. For older fans Soul Bird: Whiffenpoof will put a massive smile accross your face. It has been thirteen years Cal Tjader’ last studio CD, “Soul Bird: Whiffenpoof” which won Array MTV Music Awards and was nominated for album of the year. The Whiffenpoof Song and Soul Bird (Tin Tin Deo) is really good.
Awesome song is really all that you can say about it. How High The Moon marked the continuation of Cal Tjader in style evolution. That’s All is the amazing blend of moody yet optimistic tunes. Soul Motion which is my favorite is a truly Cal Tjader sounding song. Cal Tjader breathes new life into the music in Reza. Music in The Prophet is excellent as in all tracks of Soul Bird: Whiffenpoof. I can’t stop humming along Sonny Boy. Doxy - a classic song. The first time I listened to Samba De Orfeu I was struck by its exquisite sound. Shiny Silk Stockings is a song to savor, to listen to from every angle. One listen to the sheer beauty of Daddy Wong Legs was all I needed.
