On Doc at the Radar Station album, Captain Beefheart have renewed their membership in the ‘if it ain’t broke…’ school of songwriting. It’s natural for Captain Beefheart to take a stab at ‘Hot Head’ considering her long-professed love for Madonna. This thirteen-song debut EP shows the promise that Captain Beefheart has. This is my first Captain Beefheart Album and i must say i am blown away.
This song could easily nestle itself onto the world top playlists. Music and lyrics of A Carrot Is As Close As A Rabbit Gets To A Diamond creates, for me, fertile ground for daydreaming. In Run Paint Run Run the music gets its power. Excellent vocals and musical performances. One listen to the sheer beauty of Brickbates was all I needed. Dirty Blue Gene stands out to me for its audacious melody and sheer beauty. Best Batch Yet is probably the most interesting track on Doc at the Radar Station. Telephone is beautiful, yet underrated track. This track is a great song that still never gets old. The song feels complete. Making Love To A Vampire With A Monkey On My Knee (3:11) - Oh, this is one of my favorites!
