Since completing 1980’s ‘I love my dog’, Cat Stevens fulfilled their contract with Capitol Records and where under no obligation to release another album. This is one of the best Cd’s Cat Stevens has dropped to date. It’s natural for Cat Stevens to take a stab at ‘I love my dog’ considering her long-professed love for Ultra Dolphins. I love my dog and The laughing apple is really good.
A unique and uplifting song. I see a road is another favourite of mine. This is one of those songs that musicians strive to write and create. I listened to the opening track Hummingbird and liked it a lot. In Where are you full palet of sound is used by Cat Stevens to accentuate the presentation. Portobello road is amazing work of Cat Stevens. Blackness of the night (2:33) - awsome. When I speak to the flowers is beautiful, yet underrated track. Here comes my baby is just simply stunning. Cat Stevens allows each song to breathe and flourish. I like The view from the top because it’s extremely catchy and has awesome drumming. Come on and dance - A classic Cat Stevens track. Image of hell (3:08) - Oh, this is one of my favorites! The first cut is the deepest actually sounds so joyous, that you can practically see a smile on Cat Stevens’s face. The sound in I’m so sleepy is really warm and Cat Stevens’s signature voice is still very much present. Kitty - I used to hate this song, but now it’s one of my favorites. Come on baby (shift that log) is a medium tempo tune. I’m gonna get me a gun is the song that really did it for me. Matthew and son is an underrated song: I like its lyrics and melody a lot.
