Since completing 1983’s ‘I Can’t Take It’, Cheap Trick fulfilled their contract with Mute Records and where under no obligation to release another album. This disc has all of the essential Cheap Trick classics. For older fans Next Position Please will put a massive smile accross your face. This album is awesome.
Borderline is pretty funky and mellow. Some of the arrangements found on Next Position Please are surprisingly edgy. No Cheap Trick song has come close to capturing my attention as Next Position Please did. Younger Girls has a gorgeous instrumental sound, which lets Cheap Trick’s strong vocals come to the fore. Dancing The Night Away has a fun tempo. This song has very few things relative to that of it’s predecessor. This track is almost perfect, instrumentals and vocals combine awesomely. You Say Jump one of the most beautiful songs i’ve ever heard. In Y.O.Y.O.Y the music gets its power. This track is a great song that still never gets old. Heaven’s Falling I just LOVE this mix! In Invaders Of The Heart the light shines equally on lyrics, vocals and instrumentation. It took me a little time but I ended up loving Don’t Make Our Love A Crime.
