After seeing Introduction, I had to have a good Chicago cd. Chicago Transit Authority isn’t so much a record, as a great effort at dragging you into another world. There is so much to love about Chicago, starting with incredible harmonies, songwriting chops and stellar stage presence. If you want to hear real Jazz: Jazz-Rock, get this record now!
Does Anybody Really Know What Time It Is - Check out that bassline! Music and lyrics of Beginnings creates, for me, fertile ground for daydreaming. Although I prefer the faster paced music, I think Questions 67-And 68 is my favorite song on Chicago Transit Authority. Song Listen is actually a funny song. Poem 58 which is my favorite is a truly Chicago sounding song. This track is clearly meant to showcase Chicago’s vocal abilities. South California Purples - I used to hate this song, but now it’s one of my favorites. I’m A Man is Chicago’s best work in years. Awesome song is really all that you can say about it. Chicago must have run out of lyrics on the next track Someday (August 29, 1968). A unique and uplifting song.
