After seeing Bicharia, I had to have a good Chico Buarque cd. On Os Saltimbancos album, Chico Buarque have renewed their membership in the ‘if it ain’t broke…’ school of songwriting. While no new Chico Buarque album is in sight, the artist has been road testing new songs during 1977 tour in Asia. Os Saltimbancos is the best essence of Chico Buarque.
O jumento is the funkiest number on the album. Um dia de co the elegant and beautiful song on the album is hard to describe. A galinha - Chico Buarque first major hit. Chico Buarque sings his heart out in Histria de uma gata. A cidade ideal one of the most beautiful songs i’ve ever heard. The opening track Minha cano is very much like you would expect from other albums. When listening to A pousada do bom bao, it gives me such an energy rush it’s unbelievable. A batalha (instrumental) - I like this one. Todos juntos as well as many of songs is a short story in miniature. Esconde esconde is just simply stunning. Todos juntos (reprise) - Well, here we get a bit more meaning. It’s so catchy, it’s amazing.
