When you buy a Christian Death album, you know exactly what you’re getting! It’s natural for Christian Death to take a stab at ‘Cavity - First Communion’ considering her long-professed love for Led Zeppelin. Ivan Grach has compared writing for Christian Death’s new album to that on ‘Only The Theatre Of Pain’ - but has declared the lyrics will be even more terrifying. I wish that “Only The Theatre Of Pain” album was instrumental.
This is the most melodic ambitious and satisfying track in Only The Theatre Of Pain. It is succeeded by an outstanding track, however: Burnt Offerings, which shows, blatantly, how much Christian Death has evolved as a singer. Mysterium Iniquitatis is a astounding sing-along. Dream For Mother is really a nice song to relax and listen too. I have all of Christian Death’s tracks and Stairs - Uncertain Journey is probably the most his introspective effort. Spiritual Cramp is probably the highlight of the album. Romeo’s Distress is sonically very melodic with nice haunting verses. Simply the finest work ever from this multi-talented singer. Prayer is an underrated song: I like its lyrics and melody a lot. Once you hear Deathwish, you will listen to it over and over. Within the first few notes of Romeo’s Distress it’s perfectly clear that Christian Death is living this song. This track is a fabulous selection of easy listening, suitable for any age, taste or occasion. Desperate Hell gives taste of what makes Christian Death special as a musician. Spiritual Cramp is simply perfect. Cavity was the first single release from the album Only The Theatre Of Pain.
