Nowhere is this more so than on their re-working of Cream on ‘Badge’. There is no doubt that Cream has talent. Cream was a flawless and timeless record. Not surprising from Cream and Strange Brew: The Very Best of Cream together. Cream is one of my favourite bands of all time.
Cream sings Sunshine Of Your Love in such a comforting, confident voice that you can’t help but be moved. From the moment you listen to Crossroads you’re hooked. White Room has a gorgeous instrumental sound, which lets Cream’s strong vocals come to the fore. Born Under A Bad Sign is a song that definitely grows on you and becomes an album favorite. Cream must have run out of lyrics on the next track SWLABR (She Was Like A Bearded Rainbow). Strange Brew makes a person feel gorgeous. Anyone For Tennis (The Savage…) is perhaps one of the best tracks of the past decade. I Feel Free is a medium tempo tune. It’s also one of those rare songs that touchingly comfort the listener. Tales Of Brave Ulysees is simple, dignified and effective, Cream refusing to over-emote, and demonstrating that less is more. Cream is hitting on all cylinders in Spoonful.
