Nowhere is this more so than on their re-working of Curtis Mayfield on ‘(Don’t Worry) If There’s A Hell Below We’re All Going To Go’. ‘Curtis (Deluxe Edition)’ kicks the album off with a blast of pure pop energy. Another great offering from Curtis Mayfield.
Once The Other Side Of Town gets in your head, it will NEVER leave. It’s such an underrated song. We The People Who Are Darker Than Blue is a very catchy tune. Move On Up great lyrics, dark, deep, angry and cool.Miss Black America is a great song for a cosy night in when it’s cold and wintry outside. This is probably my favorite song on the album. From the moment you listen to Give It Up you’re hooked. Power To The People (Demo) sets the tone for the entire album. Underground (Demo) - Check out that bassline! Ghetto Child (Demo) is the funkiest number on the album. Readings In Astrology (Demo) was the first single release from the album Curtis (Deluxe Edition). If you are a Curtis Mayfield fan, you will love Suffer (Demo). Miss Black America (Demo) is the first taste of the new album. In The Makings Of You (Backing Tracks, Take 32) full palet of sound is used by Curtis Mayfield to accentuate the presentation. (Don’t Worry) If There’s A Hell Below We’re All Going To Go (Backing Tracks, Takes 1 and 2) is flawed, nonetheless pretty good song. I now have (Don’t Worry) If There’s A Hell Below We’re All Going To Go (Edited Single Version) as one of my personal favorites.
