When you buy a David Bowie album, you know exactly what you’re getting! ‘Hunky Dory’ kicks the album off with a blast of pure pop energy. Since David Bowie last CD (Hunky Dory) on Savoy Records back in 1972, I have felt a massive void in my life. Cool, but I like their other actual stuff better like Hunky Dory.
Album opener Oh You Pretty Things is a bright, upbeat ditty. The song Eight Line Poem ending is my favorite… so catchy! Excellent vocals and musical performances. Kooks is the albums biggest surprise. This song is like perfectly aged vintage bordeaux wine not a tequila shot. A unique and uplifting song. Andy Warhol is the song that really did it for me. In Song For Bob Dylan full palet of sound is used by David Bowie to accentuate the presentation. Although Queen Bitch is very melodic it is far from sad. This track is possibly the biggest guilty pleasure on Hunky Dory.
