This is the first studio album from Donizetti, Gaetano since bad diagnosis in 1977. When you buy a Donizetti, Gaetano album, you know exactly what you’re getting! This is one of the best Cd’s Donizetti, Gaetano has dropped to date. I love this album so much, i’ve been crazy about Donizetti, Gaetano ever.
Oh meschina! (Edgardo) is a striking and quite long song. Fra poco a me ricovero (Edgardo) is possibly the most mysterious and inexplicable track Donizetti, Gaetano ever produced. Only one song from Lucia di Lammermoor named Tombe degli avi miei (Edgardo) really got me. Donizetti, Gaetano emotions are reflected through Si tragga altrove (Enrico, Raimondo, Normanno). Spragi d’amaro pianto (Lucia) is probably the highlight of the album. A fantastic track full of wonder. The song Ardon gl’incensi (Lucia) ending is my favorite… so catchy! Il dolce suono (Lucia) - Donizetti, Gaetano first major hit. Ah! Dalle stanze ove Lucia (Raimondo) is the album’s biggest hit, I think. Some call D’immenso giubilo (Coro) from Lucia di Lammermoor as a quiet invitation of an artist to sit and listen. Act III. Orrida e questa notte (Edgardo, Enrico) is a marvelous song and it grows on you. In Esci, fuggi (Enrico, Arturo, Normanno…) the light shines equally on lyrics, vocals and instrumentation. Sconsigilato! In queste porte (Enrico, Arturo, Normanno…) is beautiful, yet underrated track. T’allontana, sciagurato (Enrico, Arturo, Normanno…) is a very catchy tune. Chi mi frena in tal momento? (Lucia, Edgardo, Enrico…) is astounding. Piange la madre estinta (Lucia, Edgardo, Enrico…) is another favourite of mine. This song is like perfectly aged vintage bordeaux wine not a tequila shot. Some of the arrangements found on Lucia di Lammermoor are surprisingly edgy. No Donizetti, Gaetano song has come close to capturing my attention as Al ben de’ tuoi qual vittima (Raimondo) did. One of the songs that always stick in my mind is Ah! Cedi, cedi (Raimondo) because the melody in the chorus is so good. Ebben? - Di tua speranza (Raimondo) - arguably the best track on Lucia di Lammermoor album. |titile| is a sure sign of something most of us are experiencing, maturity. Che fia (Lucia, Enrico) still maintains something of a specific flourish. Opening track Soffriva nel pianto (Lucia, Enrico) shows the best of Donizetti, Gaetano. Appressati, Lucia; Il pallor funesto, orrendo (Lucia, Enrico) is the more seemingly obscure song on Lucia di Lammermoor that bear up best to repeated listening. Act II. Lucia fra poco a te verra (Normanno) is one of the more up-tempo songs on Lucia di Lammermoor. Within the first few notes of Verranno a te sull’aure (Lucia, Edgardo) it’s perfectly clear that Donizetti, Gaetano is living this song. From the moment you listen to Sulla tomba che rinserra (Lucia, Edgardo) you’re hooked. In Egli s’avanza (Lucia, Edgardo) Donizetti, Gaetano spins a tale you want to hear to the end. So much energy, so exciting a sound. This track is a killer, it just grabs you instantly. Ancor non giunse (Lucia) is one of the coolest songs Donizetti, Gaetano has ever recorded. Il tuo dubbio (Enrico) is almost impossible to review. Cruda, funesta smania (Enrico) is a song that definitely grows on you and becomes an album favorite. Tu sei turbato! (Enrico) (2:56) Not one of my favorites, but for a lot of people this is one of their best songs. Act I. Percorrete le spiagge vicine (Orchestra, Coro) is the albums biggest surprise.
