Lead single “Catch The Wind” and “To Try For The Sun” start with near-whispers before kicking into giddily catchy, fuzz box-driven hollered hooks. For older fans Catch The Wind will put a massive smile accross your face. This -song debut EP shows the promise that Donovan has. Exciting stuff.
Vocal harmonies in this track are great and song structure is just right. Hey Gyp (Dig The Slowness) (3:11) - Oh, this is one of my favorites! One listen to the sheer beauty of Colours was all I needed. Josie is simply excellent. The Universal Soldier can be hardly overrated by any means; this is what Donovan is all about. Candy Man is a song that takes you on the journey before it reaches the conclusion. Donovan breathes new life into the music in The Summer Day Reflection Song. Donna Donna is the album’s biggest hit, I think. Outside of the singles, my favorite song on Catch The Wind is Why Do You Treat Me Like You Do. I like the agression and power of Goldwatch Blues. What sets Jersey Thursday apart is Donovan’s innovative and organic way of creating atmospheres. The Ballad Of The Crystal Man is such a astounding and optimistic song that things can get just better. You have to get essence of the Turquoise’s power, to truly understand this masterpiece. In To Sing For You you won’t find any flashy solos. Sunny Goodge Street is a very catchy tune.
