It has been six years Eartha Kitt’ last studio CD, “A touch of French” which won Array Emmy Awards and was nominated for album of the year. For older fans A touch of French will put a massive smile accross your face. I am not a real Easy Listening music type of person, but i have to admit ‘A touch of French’ really is amazing. Great Easy Listening right here!
Bal, petit bal (with Robert Clary; 1952) is one of my favorite songs by Eartha Kitt. Album opener Avril au Portugal (April in Portugal; 1953) is a bright, upbeat ditty. Under the bridges of Paris (1953) - A nice song. The Heel (L’homme; 1955) is a catchy, up-tempo track that has influence of music streams without leaning too much in that direction. From the moment you listen to Mambo de Paree (1955) you’re hooked. Dinner for one please, James (1955) very upbeat. Je cherche un homme (1955) is astounding. One of the more genuine-sounding songs is Lullaby of birdland (1956). The sound in Le danseur de Charleston (1956) is really warm and Eartha Kitt’s signature voice is still very much present. C’est si bon (1960) - A catchy, upbeat tune. This song is very powerful, its catchy melody will have you singing along in no time. The song feels complete. Autumn leaves (1965) - arguably the best track on A touch of French album. Darling, je vous aime beaucoup (1965) is a song that takes you on the journey before it reaches the conclusion. I love the melodic melody of C’est magnifique (1965) and to this day it makes me feel good. One listen to the sheer beauty of I wish you love (1965) was all I needed. Eartha Kitt is one of artists that allow his songs like My man (1965) to stand on their own and be heard. Opening track The last time I saw Paris (1965) shows the best of Eartha Kitt. The touch (1962) is outstanding work of Eartha Kitt. This song stands out greatly from the others. Ne me quitte pas (1989) - This one has a powerful beat and a good melody. Hymn to love (1989) rocked my world when I popped it into my car stereo. It’s very catchy and easy to get into which is what you want in a song.
