Ella Fitzgerald had quite a long carriere and they made many hits. Lead single “As Long As Live” and “Come Rain Or Come Shine” start with near-whispers before kicking into giddily catchy, fuzz box-driven hollered hooks. It’s natural for Ella Fitzgerald to take a stab at ‘As Long As Live’ considering her long-professed love for Universal Soul. If you want to hear real Jazz, get this record now!
Come Rain Or Come Shine is a romantic if not formulaic ditty. Ding-Dong! The Witch Is Dead is one of these floating songs. Get Happy (3:33) a good melody. Happiness Is A Thing Called Jo which is my favorite is a truly Ella Fitzgerald sounding song. I Gotta Right To Sing The Blue have really caught my ear and imagination. Ella Fitzgerald breathes new life into the music in It Was Written In The Stars. It’s Only A Paper Moon has a fun tempo. One For My Baby - another great track from the The Harold Arlen Songbook(CD1) album. Strong percussion and poignant lyrics of this track really gets under your skin. Over The Rainbow is just a great song and one well worth taking the time to give it a good listen. The Man That Got Away is the best music that I have heard from anyone in any area of music. When The Sun Comes Out - A nice song.
