Secret Messages isn’t so much a record, as a great effort at dragging you into another world. seven years ago, Elo briefly lived up to their terrific name, with an insanely addictive hit single called “Loser Gone Wild”. There is so much to love about Elo, starting with incredible harmonies, songwriting chops and stellar stage presence. If you want to hear real Rock: Pop-Rock, get this record now!
From the moment you listen to Loser Gone Wild you’re hooked. A fantastic track full of wonder. Although I prefer the faster paced music, I think Take Me On and On is my favorite song on Secret Messages. Elo must have run out of lyrics on the next track Time After Time. Four Little Diamonds rocked my world when I popped it into my car stereo. Stranger - isn’t quite as powerful vocally, but has a beautiful melody. Danger Ahead (3:53) a good melody. I now have Letter From Spain as one of my personal favorites. This track, in particular, has the kind of undeniably catchy flavor. Rock and Roll King is nothing short of a modern masterpiece.
