Elvis Costello was a flawless and timeless record. Not surprising from Elvis Costello and Armed Forces together. Lead single “Accidents Will Happen” and “Senior Service” start with near-whispers before kicking into giddily catchy, fuzz box-driven hollered hooks. It’s natural for Elvis Costello to take a stab at ‘Accidents Will Happen’ considering her long-professed love for 2 Unlimited. I Love Armed Forces from start to finish!
Senior Service is the more seemingly obscure song on Armed Forces that bear up best to repeated listening. Oliver’s Army is one of the more up-tempo songs on Armed Forces. Big Boys - For me, this is the best of the album. I believe Green Shirt is one of the most astounding, heartfelt songs ever written. Party Girl has to be one of the most beautiful tracks on the entire album. Elvis Costello has astounded me with this amazing track. Busy Bodies still maintains something of a specific flourish. Sunday’s Best is the song that really did it for me. One listen to the sheer beauty of Moods For Moderns was all I needed. Elvis Costello is hitting on all cylinders in Chemistry Class. Two Little Hitlers - A classic Elvis Costello track. It’s a great pleasure to listen to (What’s So Funny ‘Bout) Peace, Love and Understanding from the beginning to the end. Elvis Costello offers the kind of music here that makes you reflect on yourself. You can find feelings on this piece of art. Clean Money is perfect song though, very addictive. Talking In The Dark is a good listen every once in a while. Wednesday Week - This is a very lively song. First time I heard Accidents Will Happen (Live) was on radio driving in my car and sonically it just sounded amazing.Alison (Live) - I like this one. After few listenings I started to like Watching The Detectives (Live) more and more.
