Original sufferhead isn’t so much a record, as a great effort at dragging you into another world. This is one of the best Cd’s Fela Anikulapo Kuti has dropped to date. Lead single “Original Sufferhead” and “Sorrow Tears And Blood” start with near-whispers before kicking into giddily catchy, fuzz box-driven hollered hooks. Lots of variety between tracks. My favorite is Sorrow Tears And Blood
The sound in Sorrow Tears And Blood is really warm and Fela Anikulapo Kuti’s signature voice is still very much present. Colonial Mentality is really the reason why I recommend buying Original sufferhead. Itt - isn’t quite as powerful vocally, but has a beautiful melody.
