Lead single “Mother Focus” and “I Need A Bathroom” start with near-whispers before kicking into giddily catchy, fuzz box-driven hollered hooks. Nowhere is this more so than on their re-working of Focus on ‘Mother Focus’. Focus’s debut, ‘Mother Focus’, does not fit easily into one genre. This is the best album I have heard in a long time
|titile| is a sure sign of something most of us are experiencing, maturity. In Bennie Helder it becomes nowhere more obvious that Focus has yet to define own style. When listening to Soft Vanilla, it gives me such an energy rush it’s unbelievable. This track is full of harmonies and gets Mother Focus off to a relaxing start. Tropic Bird is perhaps one of the best tracks of the past decade. Focus IV - a classic song. Someone’s Crying…What! actually sounds so joyous, that you can practically see a smile on Focus’s face. All Together…Oh That! - This one makes me want to not only sing along. No Hang Ups pretty much defines how I feel spiritually. My Sweetheart - This one is what it is: a powerful, primal invitation to love. Father Bach is the albums lead single as well as biggest hit.
