This ten-song debut EP shows the promise that Frank Zappa has. After seeing Debra Kadabra, I had to have a good Frank Zappa cd. Lead single “Debra Kadabra” and “Carolina Hardcore Ecstasy” start with near-whispers before kicking into giddily catchy, fuzz box-driven hollered hooks. Smart music for smart people.
Carolina Hardcore Ecstasy - My least favorite song on this album. Vocals of Frank Zappa in Sam With The Showing Scalp Flat Top really capture me and are set perfectly to the rhythm. Poofter’s Froth Wyoming - Well, here we get a bit more meaning. 200 Years Old catches attention immediately, As always, Frank Zappa’s lyrics are worth listening to again and again. Within the first few notes of Advance Romance it’s perfectly clear that Frank Zappa is living this song. Man With The Woman Head the elegant and beautiful song on the album is hard to describe. Muffin Man has to be one of the most beautiful tracks on the entire album.
