After seeing Tush Tush Tush, I had to have a good Frank Zappa cd. On You Can’t Do That On Stage Anymore. Vol. 2 album, Frank Zappa have renewed their membership in the ‘if it ain’t broke…’ school of songwriting. Frank Zappa’s debut, ‘You Can’t Do That On Stage Anymore. Vol. 2′, does not fit easily into one genre. Oh yes, this album gets Array out of Array
One listen to the sheer beauty of Stinkfoot was all I needed. Inca Roads catches attention immediately, Don’t judge Rdnzl on the first listening. Outside of the singles, my favorite song on You Can’t Do That On Stage Anymore. Vol. 2 is Village Of The Sun. I have all of Frank Zappa’s tracks and Echidna’s Arf (On You) is probably the most his introspective effort. I find myself hearing bits of Don’t You Ever Wash That Thing here and there throughout my waking hours. Lyrics of Pygmy Twylyte are precise and evocative. I came to like Room Service. The Idiot Bastard Son is probably the highlight of the album. Cheepnis is another favourite of mine. Approximate is the first taste of the new album. Dupree’s Paradise I just LOVE this mix! Satumaa has a beautifully haunting disco flavor. T’mershi Duween is a fine track on any terms. The Dog Breath Variations is an underrated song: I like its lyrics and melody a lot. This track makes my mind whirl and vibrate with flowing energy. Building A Girl the elegant and beautiful song on the album is hard to describe. Music and lyrics of Montana creates, for me, fertile ground for daydreaming. I listened to the opening track Big Swifty and liked it a lot.
