There is so much to love about Gene Vincent, starting with incredible harmonies, songwriting chops and stellar stage presence. This is one of the best Cd’s Gene Vincent has dropped to date. The Beginning Of The End is an amazing album, racked with beauty.I wish that “The Beginning Of The End” album was instrumental.
Lucky Star catches attention immediately, King Of Fools (Take 1) (Stereo) still maintains something of a specific flourish. This is one hell of a track. I like to sing along with You’re Still In My Heart (Take 10) (Stereo), though I mess up the lyrics sometimes. Held For Questioning (Master - Take 2) (Stereo) is probably the most interesting track on The Beginning Of The End. Be-Bop-A-Lula ‘62 (Take 1) (Stereo) as a highlight of The Beginning Of The End contains a ton of astounding melodies. Song Be-Bop-A-Lula ‘62 (Master - Take 2) (Stereo) is actually a funny song. Overall a nice softer song. Temptation Baby (Stereo) is a perfect song and it grows on you. The Beginning Of The End is a great opener for The Beginning Of The End. La-Den-Da-Den-Da-Da the elegant and beautiful song on the album is hard to describe. Humpity Dumpity is a song you cannot help but think about at odd moments in your day. The first time I listened to A Love ‘Em And Leave ‘Em Kinda Guy I was struck by its excellent sound. Love Love Love is a nice, innocuous song, and much better than anything Gene Vincent released so far. I like Lavender Blue because it’s extremely catchy and has awesome drumming. You Are My Sunshine is a very catchy tune. Outside of the singles, my favorite song on The Beginning Of The End is Slippin’ & Slidin’. Private Dectective (Stereo) is sonically very melodic with nice haunting verses. Shimmy Shammy Shingle very upbeat. Long Tall Sally without a doubt is the standout song of The Beginning Of The End. Album opener Good Golly Miss Molly is a bright, upbeat ditty. Don’t judge Send Me Some Lovin’ on the first listening. In Hey Hey Hey Hey Gene Vincent spins a tale you want to hear to the end. Another Saturday Night is nothing but pure genius. The sound in Someday (You’ll Want Me To Want You) is really warm and Gene Vincent’s signature voice is still very much present. Simply the finest work ever from this multi-talented singer. This is one of those songs that musicians strive to write and create.
