Self-described as Dance with lots of words, Gilla comes out swinging on perhaps his best album to date. Gilla was a flawless and timeless record. Not surprising from Gilla and Zieh Mich Aus together. This disc has all of the essential Gilla classics. IT makes me wanna dance!
The opening track Machen Wir’s In Liebe is very much like you would expect from other albums. From the sound of it, I believe the song can be a big radio hit. It is succeeded by an outstanding track, however: Johnny, which shows, blatantly, how much Gilla has evolved as a singer. The sound of Was Vorbei Ist, Ist Vorbei is difficult to describe, as it seems to squirm in a sensual manner, unlike anything ever created. In Kein Mann Weit Und Breit Gilla spins a tale you want to hear to the end. Sunny - I used to hate this song, but now it’s one of my favorites. Der Strom Der Zeit is a great song for a cosy night in when it’s cold and wintry outside. I hope to keep hearing Gilla works for a long time to come. As always, Gilla’s lyrics are worth listening to again and again. Rasputin (bonus) is beautiful, yet underrated track.
