While no new Gong album is in sight, the artist has been road testing new songs during 1973 tour in North America. Now signed to Gong’s SixSteps records, the title track from second album “Angel’s Egg” leads Gong’s back-to-school campaign. Angel’s Egg isn’t so much a record, as a great effort at dragging you into another world. I Love Angel’s Egg from start to finish!
Sold To The Highest Buddah is possibly the best song Gong has come up. Musically Castle In The Clouds is superior to other tracks in Angel’s Egg. I like the agression and power of Prostitute Poem. This track is a great song that still never gets old. Selene one of the best in my collection. Flute Salad (2:09) Not one of my favorites, but for a lot of people this is one of their best songs. Oily Way is beautiful, yet underrated track. Outer Temple is the song that really did it for me. The sound in Inner Temple is really warm and Gong’s signature voice is still very much present. Percolations - isn’t quite as powerful vocally, but has a beautiful melody. Love Is How You Make It is a nice, innocuous song, and much better than anything Gong released so far. Song I Never Glid Before is actually a funny song. Nice and different song. Ooby-Scooby Doomsday Or The D-Day Dj’s Got The D.D.T. Blues is astounding.
