Since completing 1982’s ‘Dreamin”, Grandmaster Flash fulfilled their contract with Savoy Records and where under no obligation to release another album. While no new Grandmaster Flash album is in sight, the artist has been road testing new songs during 1982 tour in Europe. On Message album, Grandmaster Flash have renewed their membership in the ‘if it ain’t broke…’ school of songwriting. I greatly enjoyed this CD.
It’s Nasty defines beauty, yet is as unforgiving as an astringent stone. It’s a Shame (Mt. Airy Groove) is a striking and quite long song. Grandmaster Flash rocks harder than ever with Scorpio. She’s Fresh I just LOVE this mix! This track is full of harmonies and gets Message off to a relaxing start. The Message pretty much defines how I feel spiritually. You Are is the most memorable and exquisite.
