This is the first studio album from Henry Mancini since bad diagnosis in 1976. six years ago, Henry Mancini briefly lived up to their terrific name, with an insanely addictive hit single called “Something For Jill”. It has been six years Henry Mancini’ last studio CD, “Silver Streak” which won Array Grammy Awards and was nominated for album of the year. Great Instrumental right here!
Something For Jill is a medium tempo tune. Hilly’s Theme is an upbeat song with a constant snare hit. It is succeeded by an outstanding track, however: Bye Bye Professor Lie Down George, which shows, blatantly, how much Henry Mancini has evolved as a singer. In this song fans will recognize the unique vocals of Henry Mancini. The Fun Of Flying is astounding and different song. The song feels complete. The sound in Sneaky George is really warm and Henry Mancini’s signature voice is still very much present. It’s also one of those rare songs that touchingly comfort the listener. I’ll Try is astounding. Gold Teeth - This happy song is an ode to optimism and an anthem. Son Of This Is Terrific is a excellent song and it grows on you. Redneck Blues is probably the most interesting track on Silver Streak. A great put together song. On To Kansas (Hilly’s Theme) gets you up and jumping. Men’s Room Rock I just LOVE this mix! Shoe Shine is one of my favorite songs by Henry Mancini. The Swirl Effect to me is the best you can get from Henry Mancini. Runaway Train has a beautifully haunting disco flavor. This track is just fantastic from start to finish. When listening to Hilly’s Theme Bye Bye Professor Lie Down George, it gives me such an energy rush it’s unbelievable. Some call This Is Terrific from Silver Streak as a quiet invitation of an artist to sit and listen. It took me a little time but I ended up loving Scenic Route. I was truly moved when I heard I’ll Try. Gold Teeth actually sounds so joyous, that you can practically see a smile on Henry Mancini’s face. You can find feelings on this piece of art. This is probably my favorite song on the album. I now have On To Kansas (Hilly’s Theme) as one of my personal favorites. Men’s Room Rock which is my favorite is a truly Henry Mancini sounding song. After you’ve listened to The Swirl Effect, most everything else can’t hold up and is second rate. Runaway Train is simply amazing. Hilly’s Theme is worth the money.
