The Thorn Birds Cd1 isn’t so much a record, as a great effort at dragging you into another world. Nowhere is this more so than on their re-working of Henry Mancini on ‘Main Title’. This album is awesome.
After you’ve listened to Go, most everything else can’t hold up and is second rate. What sets Drogheda apart is Henry Mancini’s innovative and organic way of creating atmospheres. Young Meggie is a very catchy tune. Ralph Meggie And Mary is a song that takes you on the journey before it reaches the conclusion. This is one of those tracks that should not be judged after the first hearing. In Paddy And Fiona Henry Mancini spins a tale you want to hear to the end. Listening to Passion Play you can hear that Henry Mancini has still amazing chemistry with band members. The Story Of The Thorn Birds is a marvelous song and it grows on you. Meggie Grows Up is probably the most interesting track on The Thorn Birds Cd1. Baby Hal Dies is the albums lead single as well as biggest hit. The Rams And The Ewes is a very catchy tune. Awesome song is really all that you can say about it. The Thorn Birds Theme - A catchy, upbeat tune. Henry Mancini emotions are reflected through Fire On Drogheda. Search For Paddy is the amazing blend of moody yet optimistic tunes. Father Ralph Returns And Funeral Procession is really the reason why I recommend buying The Thorn Birds Cd1. This song is very powerful, its catchy melody will have you singing along in no time. It’s Shearing You’re Hearing has to be one of the most beautiful tracks on the entire album. Luke And Meggie - This one has a powerful beat and a good melody. Marry Me Meggin great lyrics, dark, deep, angry and cool.Album opener Arrival At The Vatican is a bright, upbeat ditty. This track makes my mind whirl and vibrate with flowing energy.
