This is the first studio album from Jaco Pastorius since bad diagnosis in 1981. This album has some very good songs like Soul Intro The Chicken and Continuum. There is so much to love about Jaco Pastorius, starting with incredible harmonies, songwriting chops and stellar stage presence. Cool, but I like their other actual stuff better like The Birthday Concert.
Continuum is a nice, innocuous song, and much better than anything Jaco Pastorius released so far. Invitation is probably the most interesting track on The Birthday Concert. Three View Of A Secret is the best music that I have heard from anyone in any area of music. Liberty City is kind of track that compels you to skip back and drink it in one more time before moving on through The Birthday Concert. Punk Jazz one of the best in my collection. Simple and heartfelt closing track Happy Birthday closes The Birthday Concert on a high note. Reza is a song to enjoy for years to come. Domingo is a great song to contemplate the modern music and what it really is all about. This is the most melodic ambitious and satisfying track in The Birthday Concert. Amerika is new, fresh, and hypnotizing.
