Self-described as Rock: Blues with lots of words, Janis Joplin comes out swinging on perhaps his best album to date. It has been eleven years Janis Joplin’ last studio CD, “Early Performances” which won Array Emmy Awards and was nominated for album of the year. Janis Joplin was a flawless and timeless record. Not surprising from Janis Joplin and Early Performances together. Lots of variety between tracks. My favorite is What Good Can Drinkin Do
What Good Can Drinkin Do is one of the more up-tempo songs on Early Performances. This is one of those tracks that should not be judged after the first hearing. Mississippi River (2:30) - Oh, this is one of my favorites! Stealin gets you up and jumping. No Reason For Livin is a very catchy tune. Best song on the album, love it. Music in Walk Right In is exquisite as in all tracks of Early Performances. Music and lyrics of River Jordan creates, for me, fertile ground for daydreaming. Mary Jane is almost impossible to review. From the sound of it, I believe the song can be a big radio hit. A unique and uplifting song. Janis Joplin offers the kind of music here that makes you reflect on yourself. It’s also one of those rare songs that touchingly comfort the listener. Winin Boy - I used to hate this song, but now it’s one of my favorites. The opening track Careless Love is very much like you would expect from other albums. I’ll Drown In My Own Tears is perfect.
