seven years ago, Joan Manuel Serrat briefly lived up to their terrific name, with an insanely addictive hit single called “MI NICES”. This is the first studio album from Joan Manuel Serrat since bad diagnosis in 1980. There is so much to love about Joan Manuel Serrat, starting with incredible harmonies, songwriting chops and stellar stage presence. To me Joan Manuel Serrat is the best band ever.
It is succeeded by an outstanding track, however: MI NICES, which shows, blatantly, how much Joan Manuel Serrat has evolved as a singer. The beautiful sound of this track makes you want to close your eyes and sway away with the music. The first time I listened to DECIR AMIGO I was struck by its amazing sound. Voice and instruments in HE ANDADO MUCHOS CAMINOS complement each other. I like to sing along with LA SAETA, though I mess up the lyrics sometimes. LA PALOMA is a bit different from Joan Manuel Serrat stereotypical stuff. This is one hell of a track. This track is possibly the biggest guilty pleasure on 24 Paginas Inolvidables (Cd1). It’s so catchy, it’s amazing. ELEGIA motivates you to get up and do something to improve your life and the life of others. PARA LA LIBER TAD is new, fresh, and hypnotizing.
