Monsignor and The Missouri Breaks is an amazing album, racked with beauty. It’s natural for John Williams to take a stab at ‘Theme from Monsignor’ considering her long-professed love for UB40. John Williams had quite a long carriere and they made many hits. This album is awesome.
After about the third Reunion in Italy listen through, I began to believe this song is John Williams’s essence. Within the first few notes of Forgotten Vows it’s perfectly clear that John Williams is living this song. The Meeting in Sicily the elegant and beautiful song on the album is hard to describe. Audience with the Holy Father is simple, dignified and effective, John Williams refusing to over-emote, and demonstrating that less is more. Put Gloria into car stereo for your highway driving Monsignor is maybe the best thing the group’s ever done. This song is like perfectly aged vintage bordeaux wine not a tequila shot. Santoni s Compassion is filled with very deep emotions that will truly touch your heart. At the Forum - My least favorite song on this album. Main Title (2:47) a good melody. Although Arrival of the Bustlers is very melodic it is far from sad. Such hits like Love Theme will leave you hooked. The sound in The Train Robbery is really warm and John Williams’s signature voice is still very much present. Bizarre Wake is the funkiest number on the album. Simply the finest work ever from this multi-talented singer. Confrontation is one of those songs that will put you in a good mood. John Williams has created something that grabs you by the heart and gets you moving. Crossing the Missouri is a song that definitely grows on you and becomes an album favorite. The Chase is a bit of a show-tune. Rememberances is one of the coolest songs John Williams has ever recorded. The Horse Rustlers is possibly the best song John Williams has come up. End Title has a gorgeous instrumental sound, which lets John Williams’s strong vocals come to the fore.
