This is the first studio album from John Williams since bad diagnosis in 1979. When you buy a John Williams album, you know exactly what you’re getting! I am not a real Soundtrack music type of person, but i have to admit ‘The Extended Edition’ really is amazing. Smart music for smart people.
State Of Insanity - Wild Bill Kelso is, without a doubt, my favorite song, ever. Planes On The Brain hits the heart. This track is a killer, it just grabs you instantly. I was truly moved when I heard For The Civil Defence. It’s a great pleasure to listen to Zoot Suits & Garbage - Landing Party from the beginning to the end. The Ace Of The Air - Prisoner Of The Axis is a catchy, up-tempo track that has influence of music streams without leaning too much in that direction. The Acrophobe & The Idiot is a striking and quite long song. The sound in Dishonorable Discharges - Message from A Madman is really warm and John Williams’s signature voice is still very much present. The Jitterbug Contest one of the most beautiful songs i’ve ever heard. This is probably my favorite song on the album. Madman Maddox - Back At The Brawl - The Suicide Mission without a doubt is the standout song of The Extended Edition. Wild Bill Lands At Barstow is nothing but pure genius. Red Alert is the astounding blend of moody yet optimistic tunes. Invasion is just a great song and one well worth taking the time to give it a good listen. I loved Hellcats Over Hollywood the first time I heard it. Betty Besieged is the albums lead single as well as biggest hit. Kelso’s Krash Landing is possibly the best song John Williams has come up. Get That Sub! still maintains something of a specific flourish. This song stands out greatly from the others. The Extended Edition couldn’t start better than with the up up-beat title track On The Road. The Big Gun on The Extended Edition is solid and easy to listen to. Trapped is almost impossible to review. Whellin’ Down The Pier to me is the best you can get from John Williams. The Morning After very upbeat. End Titles - A catchy, upbeat tune.
