There is so much to love about Johnny Hodges, starting with incredible harmonies, songwriting chops and stellar stage presence. This is one of the best Cd’s Johnny Hodges has dropped to date. Three Shades Of Blue is an amazing album, racked with beauty.This album is a scorcher!
Duke’S Place is a catchy, up-tempo track that has influence of music streams without leaning too much in that direction. The opening track Echoes Of Harlem is very much like you would expect from other albums. A fantastic track full of wonder. Johnny Hodges sings his heart out in Yearning. Welcome To New York is a song that definitely grows on you and becomes an album favorite. Black, Brown and Beautiful is gorgeous song though, very addictive. One of the more genuine-sounding songs is Rockin’In Rhythm. This is probably my favorite song on the album. It’s Glory make listening to Johnny Hodges like being in some sort of time warp.
