On Hejira album, Joni Mitchell have renewed their membership in the ‘if it ain’t broke…’ school of songwriting. Nowhere is this more so than on their re-working of Joni Mitchell on ‘Coyote’. four years ago, Joni Mitchell briefly lived up to their terrific name, with an insanely addictive hit single called “Amelia”. Lots of variety between tracks. My favorite is Amelia
Amelia still maintains something of a specific flourish. Within the first few notes of Furry Sings The Blues it’s perfectly clear that Joni Mitchell is living this song. A Strange Boy is simply perfect. Still going through Hejira and coming to appreciate Hejira more and more with every listen. Music of Song For Sharon is gentle, never overbearing. This track is a great song that still never gets old. In Blue Motel Room Joni Mitchell spins a tale you want to hear to the end. Refuge Of The Roads is almost impossible to review.
