This album has some very good songs like Salut A La Compagnie (Part De Dieu) and Quand J’etais Chez Mon Pere. Lead single “Salut A La Compagnie (Part De Dieu)” and “Quand J’etais Chez Mon Pere” start with near-whispers before kicking into giddily catchy, fuzz box-driven hollered hooks. It has been one years Malicorne’ last studio CD, “Almanach” which won Array MTV Music Awards and was nominated for album of the year. Almanach touched my soul like nothing else.
Quand J’etais Chez Mon Pere - This happy song is an ode to optimism and an anthem. Margot as well as many of songs is a short story in miniature. First time I heard Les Tristes Noces was on radio driving in my car and sonically it just sounded amazing.Voici Venir Le Joli Mai - a classic song. Voici La Saint Jean (Ronde) - For me, this is the best of the album. Le Luneux is a great song for a cosy night in when it’s cold and wintry outside. This track is full of harmonies and gets Almanach off to a relaxing start. Quand Je Menai Mes Chevaux Boire without a doubt is the standout song of Almanach. La Fille Au Cresson is a exquisite, simple song by Malicorne at the top of his game. Malicorne is hitting on all cylinders in L’ecolier Assassin. In Noel Est Arrive the music gets its power. La Fiancee Du Timbalier is an upbeat song with a constant snare hit.
