John Digester has compared writing for Milt Jackson’s new album to that on ‘Statements’ - but has declared the lyrics will be even more terrifying. Since completing 1961’s ‘Statement’, Milt Jackson fulfilled their contract with EMI Records and where under no obligation to release another album. There is no doubt that Milt Jackson has talent. Lots of variety between tracks. My favorite is Slowly
Slowly is a cool, simple song by Milt Jackson at the top of his game. A Thrill From The Blues - I like this one. Paris Blues great lyrics, dark, deep, angry and cool.If you are a Milt Jackson fan, you will love Put Off. A Beatiful Romance - A nice song. Sonnymoon For Two pretty much defines how I feel spiritually. The Bad and The Beautiful has a beautifully haunting disco flavor. Blues For Juanita is sonically very melodic with nice haunting verses. This track is a great song that still never gets old. I believe Big George is one of the most marvelous, heartfelt songs ever written. Gingerbread Boy - A classic Milt Jackson track. The sound of Anything I Do is difficult to describe, as it seems to squirm in a sensual manner, unlike anything ever created.
