Lead single “Machol Ha’pilegshim” and “Shir Hashirim Besha’ashuim” start with near-whispers before kicking into giddily catchy, fuzz box-driven hollered hooks. Since completing 1978’s ‘Machol Ha’pilegshim’, Ofra Haza fulfilled their contract with Virgin Records and where under no obligation to release another album. Now signed to Ofra Haza’s Virgin Records, the title track from second album “Shir Hashrim” leads Ofra Haza’s back-to-school campaign. Ofra Haza “Shir Hashrim” is an amazing album.
This is one of those tracks that should not be judged after the first hearing. Once you hear Balada La Melech, you will listen to it over and over. Blew our minds when we first heard Shir Ha’shirim Le Shlomo. This track is nearly perfect if not perfect. Voice of Ofra Haza in Hayafa Banashim is honest and guitar work is subtle and poignant. Achot Lanu Ketana is a great song for a cosy night in when it’s cold and wintry outside. Ahava Beta’anugim - isn’t quite as powerful vocally, but has a beautiful melody. I hope to keep hearing Ofra Haza works for a long time to come. Aza Ka’mavet - This one makes me want to not only sing along. Al Mishkavi Ba Leilot without a doubt is the standout song of Shir Hashrim.
