While no new Orange Juice album is in sight, the artist has been road testing new songs during 1982 tour in Asia. There is so much to love about Orange Juice, starting with incredible harmonies, songwriting chops and stellar stage presence. You Can’t Hide Your Love Forever isn’t so much a record, as a great effort at dragging you into another world. Falling and Laughing and Untitled Melody is really good.
Untitled Melody is the first taste of the new album. Wan Light is one of the coolest songs Orange Juice has ever recorded. Tender Object has a beautifully haunting disco flavor. The first time I listened to Dying Day I was struck by its astounding sound. I like Love Love because it’s extremely catchy and has awesome drumming. Intuition Told Me (Part 1) is an upbeat song with a constant snare hit. I hope to keep hearing Orange Juice works for a long time to come. Satellitle City defines beauty, yet is as unforgiving as an astringent stone. Three Cheers For Our Side gets you up and jumping. Orange Juice offers the kind of music here that makes you reflect on yourself. When listening to Felicity, it gives me such an energy rush it’s unbelievable. In A Nutshell is Orange Juice’s best work in years.
