There is so much to love about Ornette Coleman, starting with incredible harmonies, songwriting chops and stellar stage presence. Science Fiction carries a very emotional theme throughout the album. Science Fiction isn’t so much a record, as a great effort at dragging you into another world. I greatly enjoyed this CD.
Civilization Day is the song that really did it for me. It is succeeded by an outstanding track, however: Street Woman, which shows, blatantly, how much Ornette Coleman has evolved as a singer. If you are a Ornette Coleman fan, you will love Science Fiction. Rock the Clock is a medium tempo tune. All My Life is a great song to contemplate the modern music and what it really is all about. This is one of those tracks that should not be judged after the first hearing. I like Jungle Is a Skyscraper because it’s extremely catchy and has awesome drumming.
