Mila Sparrow has compared writing for Oscar Peterson Trio’s new album to that on ‘Night Train’ - but has declared the lyrics will be even more terrifying. Since completing 1962’s ‘Billy Boy’, Oscar Peterson Trio fulfilled their contract with Mute Records and where under no obligation to release another album. This disc has all of the essential Oscar Peterson Trio classics. Oh yes, this album gets Array out of Array
Chicago is a medium tempo tune. Music in I’ve Never Been In Love is cool as in all tracks of Night Train. Oscar Peterson Trio sings his heart out in In The Wee Small Hours. Sometimes I’m Happy is one of those songs that will put you in a good mood. The Night We Called It A Day is a pleasing, and full of overall coherence that goes beyond other creations. Vocal harmonies in this track are great and song structure is just right.
