It has been five years Patrick O’hearn and Mark Isham and Group 87′ last studio CD, “Group 87″ which won Array Emmy Awards and was nominated for album of the year. It’s a brave and brilliant refocusing of Patrick O’hearn and Mark Isham and Group 87 energies, virtually a rebirth. Lead single “Future Of The City” and “Magnificent Clockworks” start with near-whispers before kicking into giddily catchy, fuzz box-driven hollered hooks. Future Of The City and Magnificent Clockworks is really good.
Magnificent Clockworks is kind of track that compels you to skip back and drink it in one more time before moving on through Group 87. In Frontiers 1856 it becomes nowhere more obvious that Patrick O’hearn and Mark Isham and Group 87 has yet to define own style. Sublime Feline is amazing song though, very addictive. The Bedouin is absolutely incredible. I’ve found myself listening to While The City Sleeps back to back and back many times. After few listenings I started to like Moving Sidewalks more and more. Hall Of Glass is one of the most beautiful songs ever to grace my stereo. Although I prefer the faster paced music, I think One Night Away From Day is my favorite song on Group 87.
